Quick Start Guide
Get your Roku channel up and running in 15 minutes.
CastConductor Terminology
Content Blocks:
➡️ Hold all of the visual elements that you design including graphics, text, images, video, QR codes, etc.
Containers:
➡️ Assign Content Blocks to containers to layout your content on a TV screen.
Scenes:
➡️ Contain a background image, branding, and groups of containers that organize and display your content on Roku devices.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A WordPress site (self-hosted or managed)
- A CastConductor license key
- A Roku device for testing (optional but recommended)
Step 1: Install the WordPress Plugin
- Download the CastConductor plugin from your Thank You page or the link in your purchase email
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
- Upload the
.zipfile and click Install Now - Click Activate
Step 2: Activate Your License
License is Domain-Locked
Your license key is tied to the domain you specified at checkout. If you need to change domains, contact [email protected].
- Go to CastConductor → Settings in your WordPress admin menu
- Enter your license key (received via email after purchase)
- Click Validate License
Out-of-the-box Experience
Step 3: Run the Setup Wizard
- The Setup Wizard installs demo content to get you up and running quickly.
- Creates 8 default content blocks that you can use as templates to build new content blocks with.
- Creates a default Scene with background and branding.
- Provides the minimum elements to deliver content to your Roku app
Step 4: Design Your First Content Block
- Jump to Content Blocks & Canvas Editor — to learn how to quickly design content blocks.
Step 5: Build a Scene
Scenes are the screens of your Roku app.
- Jump to Scenes and Containers stage — Learn how to assign content blocks to containers and manage scenes.
Step 6: Generate Your Roku App
- Visit the CastConductor Toaster
- Enter your license key and WordPress site URL
- Click Generate App
- Download your custom Roku app
.zipfile - Use the guide below to prepare your channel store assets and upload them to the Toaster form.
- If you don't already have artwork, you can use tools like Nano Banana, DALL-E 3, or our personal favorite, Ideogram to generate your channel artwork.

Step 7: Sideload for Testing
Before submitting to the Roku Channel Store, test on your own device:
- Enable Developer Mode on your Roku
- Upload your app using the Roku Developer Portal
- Test all features on your TV
